After a week-long tour of Far Western Nepal, meeting Raute community members of Surkhet, Mahendranager and Dhangadi, Rekha Thapa has returned back to Kathmandu. She has also adopted four children as a guardian.
After the birth of Rekha Thapa Foundation, Rekha has said that she has felt a new strength and she has felt a new morning has started. She hadn’t thought it would have been so easy. The success of the social work has given her new strength for her future projects.
After returning form Jogbudha-1, Dadeldhura, Rekha Thapa expressed her happiness saying, “I am extremely happy today. My social work effort has been successful.”
She added, “Today’s meeting with the Raute brothers of Jogbudha VDC’s was a very good opportunity to hear about their hardships and struggle. I can never forget the love, respect and nearness the community had shown to me.”
You know Rekha Thapa’s ‘Kali‘ has started collecting profit. Currently running in 80 theaters all over Nepal, the movie has collected a total of Rs. 13,700,000 so far. That is almost five million in Kathmandu valley and about 9 million in theaters out of Kathmandu.
Excited by the success of the movie, Rekha has told that she will spend the profits from the movie in the education of the violence affected children.
Rekha has also asked the NRN representatives currently in Kathamndu watch the movie for entertainment and indirectly and help the children. NRN representatives from all over the world are currently in Kathmandu to participate in the 6th NRN convention that started today (on October 21).
Yes, Rekha Thapa has promised to call in phone or Skype everybody who donates money for the support of Ganesh Bishowkarma’s family.
That is not all, she has also promised to prepare tea and offer it to the donors.

Rekha Thapa and Soch Pariwartan Nepal have started fund raising to help the family of Ganesh Bishowkarma. The 16-years-old boy went to Qatar to work and support his family. The family had raised money at 38% interest to send Ganesh to the foreign country. But, within 6months Ganesh’s dead body arrived at home.
The story made an international sensation when a British newspaper The Guardian published the story.
